It's definitely possible. But you're going to have to check a different universe. Cause this one aint it, chief. |

“Our expectation is that Jack is going to be traded in the near future, and all of our discussions have been centred around that issue,” came a dual response from Peter Fish and Peter Donatelli. |

Hank Balling: Is It Feasible For Eichel to Remain A Sabre? - Hank Balling
Yes
If the sabres are contending for the playoffs and he believes that with power the following year that they can make the playoffs with another year if cozens, possibly Quinn and other prospects stepping up it is possible, especially since the team controls him due to contract
If the Sabres make some noise in free agency it could make him happier, granted Reinhart was traded
But he won't be happy with another rebuild and if they draft #1 he may not like that all the attention will shift to Wright
Maybe all he needs is a kick in the behind and to get the team winning, if the team starts to win sometimes that's all that is needed |

The Sabres, earlier this offseason, pitched him a plan to get back to the playoffs, and he is utterly done here. His agents admitted that a trade is in the works and expect it to be the only outcome. When an agent goes public like that, there's no going back.

To add, also have to be careful and pick the right time to try to make the next step
Rumors are the devil's are interested in Hamilton and it could be mutual (I think Hamilton is using the devil's to get more $$$ out of Carolina) which is all fine and dandy but it may move the needle some but not enough to take the next step. Could move from a top pick to mid pick but not in the playoffs where you can just be hovering around there. |

Interesting, I thought it was more about his treatment options and not being in the playoffs but that if the sabres were competitive he could be happy to stay
Did not know that

I'm not sure what his attitude is if he didn't suffer these injuries the past two years. He had an abdomen problem that persisted for a long time. You see how angry players get when they're not treated effectively, like Tarasenko.
I think it's a large part of it, as well as the losing. You had all these GMs, all these coaches, poor drafting, poor team building, no direction, bad culture.. and now they're going into another build.
Adams will defend Jack's character but privately, this team knows that he's a me first guy and the Sabres no longer have time for him. They recognize his talent, age and contract and will not trade him without full value. They will Drouin him.

Chasing talent away sucks. I hate that it came to this. He's a douche and the Sabres, mostly Terry, are to blame for this dismal era. |

If he is on the Sabres by the start of the season, I have a feeling he is going to get “injured” fairly quickly. |

Don't worry though, there are Jack Eichel caliber players in the next two drafts, as long as they just finish last the next two years they will be all set.
The Sabres haven't done this before so it should be worth it, or so I'm told |

The only way this could back fire is if he misses a decent amount of time and this goes into the following season, not exactly sure when his NMC kicks in. |

The team he goes to will no doubt be comfortable with the procedure he wants.

Well, nothin worked before, so at least we have a large base of young players this time around, different players, with hopefully a different attitude. I know you're the pessimism guy. And I know we'll suck next year. But I'm looking forward to the long term with the Jack return, the guys here, Power, Rosén, Poltapov and next year's top pick.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of veterans they bring in. |

Let's be fair here. Were the Sabres a successful and well run franchise before Eichel came along? I'd say they weren't. The list of players is a long one that have gone to Buffalo, underperformed for whatever reason, and were miserable by the time they left and just glad to be away from the franchise. Many went on to thrive elsewhere, one example being ROR.
Eichel hasnt helped the situation, but I think the more accurate depiction of the circumstances is players want out before the Sabres ruin them. |

I just cant get excited to do the exact same thing that they just did and 6 years into it, they are going to blow up the franchise again.
The prospects you just mentioned were the Bailey, Baptiste, Zadorov, Risto, Pysyk, etc etc of the last time we did this.
I thought losing created losing, and it seems buffalo is going to be losing a lot teh next 2-3 years. That is going to take its toll on Cozens, Mitts, Dahlin/
Hell Dahlin was very vocal about all teh losing this year. |
